The Noble County Economic Development Corp. launched the first of what will be annual surveys of wages and benefits of Noble County employers Tuesday, a news release said.
The EDC was made aware that a number of wage and benefit surveys are being conducted by industries across the county.
A number of human resource managers approached the EDC to see if it would be willing to help arrange a single, countywide survey.
"Every year I participate in at least three local wage-and-benefit surveys. Having one countywide survey will save me time and give me a good idea on how competitive Kautex is in the area," said Kautex human resource manager Molly Fox.
Rick Sherck, executive director of the Noble County EDC, said an up-to-date report on actual compensation packages and practices in the county will help economic development. Accurate information about wages and benefits will help new and existing businesses understand the competitive environment.
The EDC is asking participating industries to consider making a donation of $100 to help defray costs. Participants that complete the survey will receive a copy of the report with no additional charge.
"I am looking forward to participating in a 'single' wage-and-benefit survey that will capture actual compensation practices in our county. This information is very valuable to my organization when it comes to evaluating the competitiveness of our current benefit offerings," said Graphic Packaging human resource manager Kim Beard.
"This survey will collect starting, average and maximum wage rates for more than 100 positions, from CEO to janitorial positions," Sherck said. "In addition, we will report on benefits in areas that include health care costs to employees and employers; vacations, holidays and other time off practices; training, retirement and many other areas."
Data for the survey is being gathered online at wagesbenefitssurvey.com. Participants will need to enter a survey code, which is available by contacting the Noble County EDC at 636-3800.
Sherck emphasized that information that identifies participants is separated from the responses they submit to survey questions. The survey is conducted by a third-party source and is completely confidential.
"I'd like to encourage all Noble County employers to participate," Sherck said. "Greater participation helps ensure the report is a composite of all Noble County wage-and-benefit practices," he added.
The survey website will be open Feb. 6 through March 9. A report is to be issued by the end of April.
