Lt. Governor Skillman Awards Ligonier a $270,042 Community Economic Development Program Grant
2/19/2010
Lt. Governor Becky Skillman has awarded the City of Ligonier a $270,042 Community Economic Development Program grant for purchase of capital equipment to expand the operations of Precision Tank and Equipment Co.  These funds, from the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, were dedicated to Indiana after several natural disasters caused damage in many areas across the state during 2008.

"In these tough economic times, it is critical to leverage all of the resources we can to spur economic growth in communities that were affected by the natural disasters," said Lt. Gov. Skillman. "By supporting Precision Tank and Equipment Co., Ligonier is driving economic recovery in their community in a growing business sector."

Precision Tank and Equipment Co., headquartered in Virginia, Illinois, manufactures industrial stainless steel tanks.  The grant will fund the purchase of capital equipment for the company's Ligonier operations.  The new machinery will allow Precision Tank and Equipment to increase their current production capacity and also begin producing fiberglass tanks, creating 14 new jobs in Ligonier.

Indiana's CDBG Disaster Recovery program is administered by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
